Bee Abled Adaptive Athletes Gather at The Allen for Marathon Training

Bee Abled is a not-for-profit organization that embraces athletes with disabilities (AWD), as well family members, friends, caregivers, and volunteers who help and uplift our community. On January 7th, these athletes and volunteers gathered at The Allen for their last marathon training at Buffalo Bayou Park before taking on the Houston Marathon. Over 30 wheelers (handcyclists, bike guides), runners, walkers, visually impaired athletes, and supporters make up this impressive “hive of athletes” taking on this year’s race. DC Partners’ CFO, Doug Dillard, a paraplegic athlete and a member of Bee Abled.

In addition to participating in marathons, Bee Abled offers weekly adaptive fitness classes, mindfulness and mediation sessions, sitting volleyball, and social opportunities throughout the year. The mission is to support this community to achieve both mental and physical health through participation in sports and social interactions – no matter the social economic class, race, or ethnicity.

Congratulations athletes!
